The Generator is the basic Industrial Craft 2 EU production machine. They produce EU as long as they are fed fuel, such as those used to power a vanilla Furnace. While costly in terms of fuel usage, Generators don't suffer the drawbacks of needing sunlight, water, lava, or wind, and are the most mobile of the power sources. The Generator is also used in the crafting of all other generator blocks.
While operating, the Generator will output 10 EU/t. The total EU per-item depends on the kind of fuel provided to the machine. Sugar Cane and Cactus, for instance, only produce 120 EU per item, while Coal and Charcoal produce 4,000 EU per item. The Generator can store only 4,000 EU on its own, so using an EU storage device, such as a BatBox, is recommended.
The Generator's GUI features two slots. The top slot can be used for recharging tools and batteries. Fuel is placed in the bottom slot of the GUI.
Comparison of Fuels[]
The chart below compares the total amount of EU that can be obtained per-item for each of the possible fuels. Of note is that Scaffold, 14 stacks of which can be created from one stack of Wood, is far more efficient than Wooden Planks, Charcoal, or most other types of wood fuel. A stack of Charcoal produces 256,000 EU in total, while all 14 stacks of Scaffold, from the same stack of Wood, produces 672,000 EU in total.
