The Electrolyzer is an Industrial Craft 2 machine. Its sole purpose is to turn Water Cells into Electrolyzed Water Cells. One Water Cell takes 15,000 EU to electrolyze. The Electrolyzer is needed in the recipes a few of the end-game Industrial Craft 2 machines, most notably the Forcefield Core and the Forcefield Projector Base.
Unlike all other Industrial Craft 2 machines, the Electrolyzer needs to be directly adjacent to an EU storage device, such as a BatBox, MFE, or MFSU. So as to not take up one of a storage device's output faces, the Electrolyzer can be placed between a storage device and the Generators that power it and EU will pass through. The higher the tier of storage device, the faster the Electrolyzer operates. The Electrolyzer will only work when the storage device it's connected to is at least 70% full.
The Electrolyzer only has two slots in its GUI. Water Cells to be electrolyzed are placed in the left slot, while Electrolyzed Water Cells are processed into the right slot.
The following chart lists the lengths of time and EU requirements for each tier of EU storage device. Of note is that the BatBox is simply not powerful enough to power both the Electrolyzer and other machines; thus, an MFE or MFSU is recommended instead.
|Input (EU/t)||Output (EU/t)||Seconds per cell|
