The Chunk Loader will load a chunk, even if a player is not standing in the vicinity. This is useful for pumping oil, running factories or generating power while you are away.
The Chunk Loader also works through worlds, meaning the Nether will be loaded even if no players are online in the Nether. This allows for factories or lava pumps to be built in the Nether, transport items to an Ender Chest and then be taken out in the Overworld or The End.
